1(2H)-Isoquinolinone is used mainly in chemical industry as a reagent for organic synthesis and forms the backbone of many active pharmaceutical ingredients. The isoquinolone nucleus is an integral part of complex isoquinoline alkaloids and an useful block in synthesis.
Potassium iodide is known as an effective antihyperthyroid agent thus it is used as a nutrition supplement. It has the ability to protect the thyroid from radioactive iodine. Besides, it is used as an analytical reagent, mucolytic agent. It has an application in photography as well. There is one of the ingredients in Lugol's solution.
