PROPERTIES

1-Bromo-3-chloropropane (BCP) is a clear, colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a sweet, irritating chloroform-like odor. It is insoluble in water and denser than water. Soluble in alcohol, ether and chloroform. Reactive with oxidizing agents, metals, alkalis.

APPLICATIONS

PHARMA
1-Bromo-3-chloropropane is a basic chemical used for manufacture of several pharmaceutical intermediates (e.g. GEMFIBROZIL, REPROTEROL). It is used for the preparation for the large number of cardiovascular diseases and analgesic drugs materials.

RNA ISOLATION

The use of BCP as a phase separation reagent decreases the possibility of contaminating RNA with DNA. BCP can be used in place of chloroform, and is less toxic. The replacement does not adversely affect the quality or quantity of isolated RNA, DNA or proteins. The resulting RNA is suitable for many analytical procedures.

AGROCHEMICALS

1-Bromo-3-chloropropane is an essential intermediate for agrochemicals, including pesticides.
